MUMBAI/BANGALORE: Private equity veteran Brahmal Vasudevan-founded Creador has raised $200 million as global long-term risk investors revive their appetite for assets in many Asian markets including India, people familiar with the matter said.

Creador — with $450 million in assets under management by market value — makes minority investments in growth companies in India, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore. Creador’s portfolio of Indian companies include Repco Home Finance, Cholamandalam Investment & Finance Company and Somany Ceramics.

Vasudevan, a former MD at ChrysCapital, floated Creador three years ago when he raised $130 million in a maiden fund. The latest $200-million raise is the second fund, adding heft to Creador’s investing thesis. The final corpus of the latest fund could reach $325 million as more risk investors (industry parlance for private equity backers) are keen on joining in.
