Creador is proud to share the news that MR DIY Malaysia has been named Best Newcomer at the inaugural Edge ESG Awards 2022 – Equities Category. The awards were held at Sunway Resort Hotel on Monday, November 28, 2022.

The Edge ESG Awards aims to recognise public-listed companies (PLCs) and asset management firms that it deems leaders in Malaysia’s environmental, social, and governance standards.

Commenting on the award, MR D.I.Y. Group Chief Executive Officer, Adrian Ong, said, “As Malaysia’s leading home improvement retailer, and one of the top companies on the Malaysian stock exchange, we see it as our responsibility to set benchmarks in sustainable principles and practices across all areas of our operations. Sustainability practices have been core to our operations since we were founded in 2005.”

He added that sustainability was a journey, with external engagement and transparency fundamental to making significant progress, saying, “The retail industry is such that driving sustainable practices must be a collective effort, given that we are embedded within a deeply interconnected network of diverse stakeholders. Our success stems from the mutually-rewarding relationships and collaborations we have cultivated across our value chain, with customers, vendors, regulators, and the communities in which we operate.”

Creador has been a proud partner of MR D.I.Y since its first investment in the company in 2016 when it comprised just 168 retail storefronts. Today, it has over 1000+ outlets across Malaysia, with a presence in every state.

Creador CxG (Creador Multiplies Good & Growth) has been working closely with MR D.I.Y to embed sound sustainability practices across its business and operations.

In December 2021, MR DIY Malaysia was included in the FTSE4Good Bursa Malaysia Index, FTSE4Good Shariah Index, and FTSE4Good Emerging Index – the first retailer in the home improvement category. The retailer issued a Sustainability Statement in its first year of listing and subsequently issued its inaugural Sustainability Report in 2021.
